Blog For May 2019 – Dancing With God

This is the year of the Big Birthday!  I am now at the middle of May and just now back from a journey to my wonderful home- town of Richmond, VA, where I celebrated again with all of my family in that region and a host of precious friends.

In going through my old files, I discovered something that I marked as having received September 19, 2006.  I did not show any name of sender, so it must have been a forwarded thing from someone who knows me well, for I loved dancing when I was young, and still enjoy the old Fred Astaire movies! I am not too fond of Dancing With the Stars, but occasionally, I have seen beautiful ballroom dancing on that program.  That is what I really like to watch, and therefore, that is the only part that I enjoy.

Naturally, when I saw the title of this file, I was intrigued and read it with a great deal of joy and delight.  Now I want to share it with my friends and family who follow my blogs on this website.  Here is something for you to mull over and meditate on for a pause that refreshes.

When I meditated on the word GUIDANCE I kept seeing “dance” at the end of the word.

I remember reading that doing God’s will is a lot like dancing.  When two people try to lead, nothing feels right.  The movement does not flow with the music, and everything is quite uncomfortable and jerky.  When one person realizes that and lets the other lead, both bodies begin to flow with the music.  One gives gentle cues, perhaps with a nudge to the back or by pressing lightly in one direction or the other.  It is as if two become one body, moving beautifully.  The dance takes surrender, willingness, and attentiveness from one person, and gentle guidance and skill from the other.

My eyes drew back to the word GUIDANCE.  When I saw “G” I thought of God, followed by “u” and “I” God, You and I dance.  As I lowered my head, I became willing to trust that I would get guidance about my life.  Once again, I became willing to let God lead.

My prayer for you today is that God’s blessings and mercies be upon you on this day and every day.  May you abide in God as God abides in you.   Dance together with God, trusting God to lead and to guide you through each season on your life.

This prayer is powerful and there is nothing attached.  If God has done anything for you in your life, please share this message with someone else, for prayer is one of the best gifts we can receive.  There is no cost but a lot of rewards.

So let us continue to pray for one another.

I wrote at the bottom of this, the date which was Tues. Sept. 19, 2006.  and I see that I added, JUST WHEN I NEEDED IT!

I do hope that the Lord, who caused me to find this in my old files, will now use it to bring those who read it a message to encourage each to be aware of His guidance.  Just as the writer says, He gives gentle cues.  You will be led beside the still waters and He will restore your soul.  What a wonderful FRIEND AND BROTHER  He is!

I am quite sure that I forwarded this to many friends or kin at that time, and then it was filed away.  The Lord has always kept me prodded in my mind to meditate daily on the goodness and mercy of the Lord and to remind others of His love. I am doubly thankful that I found this file today!

Dancing with God. I love this concept and how you’ve seen the word Guidance! The date of the post, Sept 19, 2006, has special significance to me, being both my birthday and the month and year that I was surviving a difficult cancer. I was able to see how it was during that time that I finally began to ‘dance’ with God. Thank you for your enlightening words!
